Honour a long-time Algonquin College employee with an Employee Awards nomination

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to an Algonquin College employee in recognition of exceptional leadership, service and a passion for excellence. Through their actions and contributions, the nominees have made Algonquin College the outstanding college that it is.


Eligibility

  1. Candidates must be current full-time employees of the College.
  2. Candidates must have a minimum of 25 full-time years of distinguished service to students, colleagues and Algonquin College.

Nominees for the Lifetime Achievement Staff Award should meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrated exceptional service / leadership over a significant period of time. This award is for lifetime achievement rather than a single contribution.
  2. Displayed a wisdom and depth of service / leadership that has made a significant difference to individuals or groups.
  3. Exemplified the core values of Algonquin College (Caring, Learning, Integrity and Respect) through their interaction with students / clients and colleagues.
  4. Promoted excellence within the College, within the college system, and within post-secondary education in Ontario.


Nominations for 2023-2024 Employee Awards must be received by Friday, May 10.


Last year’s recipient was Michael Nauth, Professor in the Carpentry and Building Construction Technician programs. An excerpt from Michael’s nomination package can be found below.


Mike saw the need for a Canadian carpentry textbook so he got to work, spending most of his evenings and weekends, creating one. The first Canadian edition was published in 2009; Mike continues to add and update the text with the 4th edition currently in print. Mike’s wisdom and leadership enables our students and many other students across Canada to have a Canadian textbook for their trade […] In the early 1990s he was instrumental in developing a new Ontario General Carpenter Apprenticeship curriculum when program transitioned from two 10-week intakes to three 8-week intakes. He also initiated and developed Algonquin’s Carpentry Construction Techniques and Building Construction Technician full-time programs to create another path into our trade. In the past Mike would visit high schools and present to the students promoting our Carpentry and BCT programs.”
